Armed robbers rob 13k at abattoir

Ten armed robbers allegedly pounced on Zinyama abattoir in Chiweshe and robbed eight farmers and two guards of their mobile phones and money on Thursday.
Mashonaland Central deputy police spokesperson Sergeant Major Samuel Chikasha confirmed the case.
"I can confirm an armed robbery case in Chiweshe where 10 masked robbers armed with pistols robbed farmers and the abattoir of money amounting to US13409-00 and nothing was recovered," Chikasha said.
Allegations are that the robbers pounced on the abattoir around 3am and found the farmers sleeping inside security guards were threatened with a pistol and ordered to lie down.
The robbers who were armed with guns, machetes and iron bars searched the farmers one by one and tied them with shoe laces and wires on legs and hands before disappearing.
The police urged company owners to upgrade their security architecture to ensure maximum security at vulnerable premises is always guaranteed.
