Conductor plunges headlong to his death from bus roof

A conductor tragically lost his life when he fell from the roof of a bus traveling along the Gwanda-Manama route. The accident occurred when the conductor, Nannick Sibanda (33) from the Lobengula area in Bulawayo, became entangled in a TelOne line while securing bags on the bus's carrier.
Matabeleland South Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Loveness Mangena, confirmed the incident, which took place on September 25 at approximately 2 PM. According to her, Nannick Sibanda was on top of the bus's carrier, organizing bags, when he became entangled in a TelOne line and subsequently fell from the roof.
"I can confirm that we recorded a fatal accident where a bus loader died after falling off the roof of the bus. The bus was traveling along the Gwanda-Manama Road, heading for the Manama area, while Nannick Sibanda was on top of the carrier organizing bags.
"He got hooked by a TelOne line and fell off the roof of the bus, landing on the ground. He sustained serious head injuries and was transported to Gwanda Provincial Hospital, where he unfortunately passed away upon admission," she stated.
Inspector Mangena emphasized the importance of motorists and drivers ensuring the safety of their passengers before commencing their journeys. She also urged motorists to ensure that their passengers adhere to safety regulations.
