Zimbabwean comedian Learnmore Jonasi achieved a remarkable feat on America's Got Talent (AGT), receiving the season's first coveted golden buzzer from his role model Terry Crews in Los Angeles, United States.
Jonasi shared that he has admired Terry Crews since childhood and aspired to emulate him, which significantly influenced his life. Being on AGT marked a breakthrough in his career, holding immense significance for him.
"I used to watch this show with my grandmother, and she would always say, 'I see you there,' and now I'm here. I even learned how to speak English by watching stand-up comedy," Jonasi shared on the AGT stage.
The judges lauded Jonasi's talent with encouraging remarks, acknowledging the difficulty of stand-up comedy, especially for someone coming from a country where English is not the first language.
"We are so glad you are here. Stand-up comedy is hard enough, but coming from a country where English is not even your first language and being able to communicate and make everybody laugh, you are truly amazing," commented judge Howie Mandel.
Judge Simon Cowell added, "I think you are one of the funniest people we have ever had over the years. Unfortunately, you are now stuck with us because you are not going anywhere."
Terry Crews announced that Jonasi would advance to the live shows, sparking excitement from Jonasi who felt like everything was a dream come true.
