Nicaragua opens embassy in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe and Nicaragua have strengthened their bilateral relations, notably against unilateral coercive measures imposed by some Western countries. This was marked by the opening of Nicaragua's embassy in Harare, attended by diplomats and senior government officials.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Sheila Chikomo, emphasized that the embassy's opening reflects Nicaragua's increased focus on Africa and enhances the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. She highlighted the need to expand economic, technical, and cultural cooperation and assured continued support against coercive measures.
Nicaraguan Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Nadeska Cuthbert, stated that the embassy symbolizes the historical friendship and partnership between the two nations. She noted their shared history of independence struggles and commitment to social justice, economic empowerment, and sustainable development. The embassy aims to deepen cooperation in sectors like agriculture, mining, education, and healthcare.
