The Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP) has extended congratulations to U.S. President-Elect Donald Trump on his victory in the 2024 presidential election, urging him to address human rights issues in Zimbabwe. MRP specifically asked Trump to press the Zimbabwean government to confront and address the historical Gukurahundi atrocities, and to consider supporting Mthwakazi's aspirations for self-determination.

In a statement, MRP's information department praised the outcome of the U.S. election as a testament to the strength of democratic processes and the American people's will.

"As advocates for self-determination and autonomy, we recognize the significance of leadership change and the values of democracy in America. We urge President-Elect Trump to prioritize unity, inclusivity, and the well-being of all Americans," the statement read.

"Furthermore, we encourage him to address human rights abuses globally, using America's influence to hold perpetrators accountable—particularly in Zimbabwe," it continued.

MRP Condemns Mozambique Ruling Party Over Disputed Election

MRP also condemned Mozambique's ruling party, Frelimo, for what it described as a flawed election marred by irregularities, leading to violence and instability in the region.

"MRP strongly condemns Frelimo for conducting questionable elections that have led to loss of life and increased instability in the region," the statement said. "The disputed election results have impacted not only Mozambique but also neighboring countries, including Zimbabwe."

The party voiced serious concerns over reports of electoral rigging and violence against opposition members and citizens in Mozambique. It criticized the use of intimidation and force to maintain power, stating that such actions undermine democratic principles.

Additionally, MRP condemned the Southern African Development Community (SADC) for endorsing the Mozambican election, expressing disappointment in SADC's failure to address alleged democratic violations.

"As a regional body, SADC has a responsibility to promote and protect democracy, human rights, and the rule of law," the statement asserted.

MRP Calls for Immediate International Action

The MRP urged the international community to intervene and address the crisis in Mozambique.

"The people of Mozambique deserve free, fair, and peaceful elections. As a party that advocates for self-determination and autonomy, we stand in solidarity with the people of Mozambique and demand that their rights be respected," the statement concluded.
