Business mogul Wicknell Chivayo, renowned for his lavish lifestyle and substantial philanthropic gestures, has donated three brand new 61-seater buses valued at $420,000 to the Johane Masowe Chishanu church. Announcing his donation on X (formerly Twitter), Chivayo described this contribution as part of a broader charitable initiative. Alongside these buses, he pledged an additional seven buses and $1 million for charity, signaling a commitment to giving back to the community.
Chivayo emphasized that his focus has shifted from luxury to philanthropy, reinforcing his dedication to meaningful contributions to society.
Meanwhile, two businessmen, Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu, currently facing charges of allegedly misappropriating funds under the government's presidential goat scheme, have raised concerns about receiving a fair trial. They allege political persecution in their case and question why Chivayo, often linked to controversial state tenders, has not been investigated similarly. Chimombe and Mpofu's defense team argues that selective legal targeting raises questions about fairness and transparency in the prosecution of high-profile figures.
As Chivayo's charitable efforts draw public attention, the contrasting legal challenges facing other prominent businessmen underscore the ongoing discussions about the balance between philanthropy, business dealings, and the application of justice in Zimbabwe.
