Police have launched a manhunt for six armed robbers caught on CCTV while breaking into a house at Pircy Farm, Goromonzi, where they made off with US$3,000 in cash and other valuables on Sunday. The CCTV footage shows clear images of the suspects' faces and clothing, which have been released to aid in their identification.
According to national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the robbers, all unidentified males, gained access to the farm by cutting through the backyard fence. Armed with machetes and pistols, they entered the property through an open kitchen door and assaulted the farm owners before stealing cash and valuables, including clothes, two speakers, three cellphones, laptops, jewellery, groceries, and three firearms.
While two shotguns and a pellet gun were taken during the robbery, police later recovered and found them discarded in the farm's backyard. Commissioner Nyathi urged the public to assist in the investigation by coming forward with any information related to the suspects.
"The faces and clothing worn by the suspects were later observed on the CCTV system installed around the yard," Nyathi stated. He also provided contact details for reporting any information: the National Complaints Desk at (024) 270 3631, WhatsApp on 0712 800 197, or at any nearby police station.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) continues to investigate the incident and appeals to anyone with knowledge of the suspects or their whereabouts.
