A 23-year-old man tragically lost his life after being stabbed during an altercation over a Bluetooth speaker at Donga Bottle Store in Shurugwi on November 6, 2024.
The victim, Pardon Vengai of Maria Village, was drinking beer with two friends when a dispute arose over the Bluetooth speaker they were using to listen to music. Pardon Vengai, who was accompanied by his friends Prince Vengai and Tawanda Siziba, both 25 and from the same village, confronted the suspect outside the bottle store to retrieve the speaker. During the confrontation, Tatenda pulled out a Colombian knife and stabbed Pardon once in the back.
Despite attempting to flee, Pardon was caught by Tatenda, who continued the attack. He was left bleeding heavily and quickly lost consciousness. The police were notified, and Pardon was rushed to Zvamabande Hospital before being transferred to Shurugwi District Hospital and eventually to Gweru Provincial Hospital.
