Obert Dube appointed Zimbabwe Director for PLO Lumumba Foundation

Celebrated poet Obert Dube has been named the Zimbabwe director for The PLO Lumumba Foundation, a prominent mentorship and nonprofit organization with a footprint across 38 African countries and 10 in the Diaspora.

Founded in 1990, The PLO Lumumba Foundation focuses on governance, leadership development, and initiatives that empower communities across the continent. Its mandate includes: Leadership and governance training. Youth mentorship programs. Empowerment projects for men and women. Educational bursaries for underprivileged students. Donations of books to community libraries and rural schools. Promotion of Pan-African ideals, identity, and culture.

Dube, renowned for his poetic contributions that champion African pride and cultural identity, brings a wealth of experience and passion for community development to his new role.

In a statement following the announcement, Dube expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the Foundation's Zimbabwe chapter, pledging to drive its vision of empowering communities and nurturing the next generation of leaders.

The appointment positions Dube at the forefront of initiatives to promote Pan-Africanism, cultural heritage, and educational advancement in Zimbabwe. His leadership is expected to amplify the Foundation's impact on youth and vulnerable groups across the country.
