President Emmerson Mnangagwa is scheduled to visit Bulawayo today for a two-day working programme, during which he will commission a state-of-the-art 10,500-seat church auditorium and preside over the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) pass-out parade in Ntabazinduna. The new auditorium, considered one of the most advanced facilities in the region, was constructed by the Harvest House International (HHI) Church under the leadership of Bishop Collin Nyathi.
Deputy Chief Secretary for Presidential Communications, Mr. George Charamba, confirmed the President's itinerary, which includes the official opening of the Harvest House International Conference Centre and the ZPCS pass-out parade at the Ntabazinduna Training Depot tomorrow. "The President will be in Bulawayo tomorrow (today). He will officially open the Harvest House International Conference Centre and preside over the ZPCS pass-out parade on Monday at the Ntabazinduna Training Depot. Those are the two programmes lined up so far," said Mr. Charamba.
Reverend Mhla Ndlovu, spokesperson for HHI Church, expressed excitement about the commissioning of the auditorium, which took six years to complete. He described the project as a testament to dedication and faith, emphasizing its potential to benefit both the church and the community. "This is a massive project, a 10,500-seater auditorium, which we embarked on in October 2018. The President is coming through to open this wonderful, magnificent structure that was constructed with the help of the hand of the living God. We are excited. What began as a dream, we can say, is now a reality," said Rev. Ndlovu.
The facility, located in Selbourne Brooke, represents the vision of HHI founder Dr. Nyathi, and is designed to serve as more than just a place of worship. It features five seminar halls, a state-of-the-art gymnasium, a food court, and a restaurant. Additionally, the building will house a fully equipped medical centre with a pharmacy, dental surgery, general practitioner services, a blood laboratory, and physiotherapy. It also includes clothing and music outlets as well as recording studios, making it a multifaceted community asset. Rev. Ndlovu highlighted the employment opportunities the project has already created and its potential to generate further jobs. "This is a project for the community. It is for everyone. Everyone is welcome. People can come and use this facility," he said.
Meanwhile, preparations for the ZPCS pass-out parade have been finalized. ZPCS national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Meya Khanyezi stated that 1,619 recruits, comprising 1,106 males and 513 females, will graduate from Courses 154 and 155. "We have two courses, 154 and 155, that are graduating. All preparations are complete," said Asst. Comm. Khanyezi.
The visit highlights the government's commitment to fostering community development and strengthening national institutions. The commissioning of the HHI Church auditorium and the ZPCS pass-out parade demonstrate President Mnangagwa's focus on supporting both spiritual and structural growth in Zimbabwe.
