Bulawayo-born actor Luthuli Dlamini is currently hosting an acting masterclass at a local conference centre, drawing a sizeable crowd eager to learn from his vast experience in the film industry.
One of the key topics discussed during the session has been audition preparation, a crucial skill for any aspiring performer. Emphasising the importance of vocal projection, Dlamini advised participants to ensure they are always heard during auditions.
"Preparing for an audition is one of a performer's most important skills. Always project your voice and make sure you are heard," said Dlamini. "One of the best ways to achieve this is by rehearsing your lines in front of a mirror before going on set. This will help you master your lines."
Dlamini also highlighted the importance of script analysis, urging actors to break down their scripts, understand their characters deeply, and fully embody them. To reinforce these skills, up-and-coming thespians participated in drills and script analysis exercises designed to enhance their grasp of character development.
Adding to the event's significance, the masterclass also featured musician Bhekiwe and Khaya Arts Productions director Future Dube, who shared their insights into the creative industry.
With over two decades of experience in television and stage performance, Dlamini's expertise has been well received. Before returning to South Africa, he is set to conduct another masterclass at the same venue on Sunday, offering another opportunity for aspiring actors to benefit from his wealth of knowledge.
