THE Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has issued a public warning following the disappearance of an official receipt book assigned to Kadoma Magistrates Court, raising concerns over possible fraud and abuse of court payment systems.

In a notice released this week, the JSC said the missing triplicate receipt book bears serial numbers 2401101 to 2401200 and was reported missing on April 8, 2026.

The Commission warned that all receipts issued from the missing book bearing receipt numbers 2401179 to 2401200 after the date it was reported missing will be regarded as invalid and will not be honoured.

"Members of the public are advised that any receipt issued from this receipt book from receipt number 2401179 to 2401200 after the date it was reported missing shall be considered invalid and will not be honoured by the Commission," the JSC said in the notice.

The Commission urged members of the public to exercise caution and report any suspicious receipts linked to the missing book to the police or the nearest JSC offices.

Court receipt books are used to process official payments including fines, filing fees and other court-related transactions, making them sensitive financial documents within the justice system.

The JSC also appealed to anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the receipt book to assist authorities with investigations.

Observers say the disappearance of official court receipt books is not only an administrative issue but could also amount to a criminal matter requiring urgent investigation to determine how the document went missing and whether it may already have been used fraudulently.
