Zimbabwe man fatally stabbed by rival suitor

A 35-year-old man from Mberengwa, Freeman Pazamongo, was allegedly fatally stabbed by a rival suitor while seeking shelter from the rain at Rengwe Business Centre in Mberengwa District on January 26.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed the suspected murder, which occurred at around 7pm. The incident unfolded as Pazamongo, along with two friends, sought refuge under the verandas of a shop at the business centre as the rain poured down.
"The circumstances are that Freeman Pazamongo (35) was in the company of his two friends when it started raining as they were about to go home. They decided to seek shelter under the shop verandas at Rengwe Business Centre," said Insp Mahoko.
According to police reports, Pazamongo was standing about seven metres away from his friends when the attack occurred.
"After about 10 minutes, his friends heard him screaming for help. When they rushed to where he was, they found him lying on the ground, bleeding profusely from a deep stab wound in the chest," Insp Mahoko added.
Pazamongo was immediately rushed to Mnene Mission Hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Pazamongo had been involved in a previous altercation with 24-year-old Ferdinand Dzimba from Mapenzi Village, under Chief Maziofa in Mberengwa. Police believe Dzimba may have been the assailant.
Authorities have launched a manhunt for Dzimba, who is now on the run.
"We are appealing to the public for any information regarding the suspect's whereabouts. Anyone with information should report to the nearest police station," Insp Mahoko urged.
The tragic incident has raised concerns about violence between rival suitors, as well as the safety of individuals seeking shelter in public spaces. Authorities are continuing their investigations into the case, as they work to locate the suspect.
