The Zimbabwe Republic Police has launched a manhunt for outspoken Zanu-PF central committee member and war veteran, Blessed Geza, following the levying of multiple criminal charges, including theft and incitement to violence. Geza, known for his vocal opposition to President Emmerson Mnangagwa's bid to extend his presidency beyond 2028, is reportedly in hiding, and authorities are intensifying their search.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi warned that anyone found harboring Geza or assisting him in evading the police will face arrest and prosecution. Nyathi issued a chilling threat, emphasizing that individuals aiding the suspect would be held accountable for their actions.

Geza, a prominent figure in the war veterans' community, is facing four charges. These include theft, where he is accused of stealing and disposing of three vehicles belonging to a complainant without consent. Additionally, he is charged with two counts of undermining the authority of the President, contravening Section 33 (2) (a) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act. The final charge against him is one of incitement to commit public violence, as outlined in Section 187 of the same act.

Geza has risen to prominence this year with his fierce campaign against President Mnangagwa's desire to extend his tenure beyond his two-term limit. Geza advocates for Vice President Constantino Chiwenga to take over, a position that has sparked tensions with the state. His outspoken criticism of Mnangagwa's ED2030 agenda has invited significant backlash, culminating in the criminal charges against him.

Many perceive Geza's prosecution as an act of victimization, considering his bold stance against what he views as Mnangagwa's increasingly unpopular bid to remain in power. His campaign, which challenges the current leadership, has drawn widespread attention, with some viewing him as a symbol of defiance in a regime known for its brutal approach to dissent.
