The command of the Mechanised Brigade at Inkomo has officially changed hands, with Brigadier-General Raban Nikisi assuming leadership from Major-General Josphat Kudumba, who was recently promoted.

Brig-Gen Nikisi was promoted on December 16, 2024, and is expected to strengthen the brigade's working relations with other security agencies and the public in Mashonaland West province.

The handover and takeover ceremony took place before Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) Commander Lieutenant-General Anselem Sanyatwe, who served as the chief witnessing officer. Several senior ZNA officers, members of the Mashonaland Joint Operations Command (JOC), and members of the local community also attended the event.

Lt-Gen Sanyatwe commended both Maj-Gen Kudumba and Brig-Gen Nikisi for their unwavering dedication to the ZNA since its founding in 1980. He emphasized that professional command at the brigade level is essential for maintaining a disciplined army, ensuring national security, and fostering an environment conducive to economic growth and investment.

He urged ZNA officers to align themselves with the government's development vision, stressing that the modernization of the army remains a priority to effectively address emerging threats.

In his acceptance speech, Brig-Gen Nikisi reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining peace in the province and strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders.

The ceremony was marked by an impressive display of armoured vehicles, military drills, and marches in both slow and quick time, providing entertainment for attendees.
