Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) faction leader Sengezo Tshabangu is set to receive US$1,696,166 from Parliament after a government notice confirmed allocations to political parties for 2025.

Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi, in an Extraordinary Government Gazette published yesterday, stated that the total amount payable to qualifying political parties this year is ZiG147,682,500 (US$5,524,971 at the official rate). Under the Political Parties (Finance) Act [Chapter 2:11], parties whose candidates secured at least 5% of the vote in the most recent general election are entitled to funding proportional to their share of the vote.

Accordingly, the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (Zanu-PF) will receive ZiG102,343,972.50 (US$3,828,805) for securing 69.3% of votes, while the CCC, with 30.7% of the vote, will receive ZiG45,338,527.50 (US$1,696,166).

Tshabangu, widely seen as a proxy aligned with Zanu-PF, assumed control of the CCC after displacing former leader Nelson Chamisa. He wrote to Parliament and local councils asserting himself as acting secretary-general, recalling legislators and councillors loyal to Chamisa and replacing them with his own allies.

The disbursement marks a significant financial gain for Tshabangu's faction, reinforcing its position within the party ahead of upcoming political contests.
