Infant dumped in bin at bank entrance

The Mutare community has been left in shock after the body of an infant was discovered dumped in a refuse bin outside First Capital Bank in the central business district.
A passer-by made the grim discovery at around 5pm on Saturday and immediately alerted authorities.
Police confirmed they are investigating a case of exposing an infant, saying the body appeared to be that of a baby aged approximately seven to eight months.
"The body was recovered from a bin along Hebert Chitepo Street on 06/09/25 and has since been taken to Victoria Chitepo Hospital mortuary for post mortem," police said in a statement.
Authorities have appealed to members of the public with any information to assist with investigations by reporting to the nearest police station.
