The Masvingo-Beitbridge Road will be temporarily closed to public traffic near Ngundu on Friday, September 19, 2025, to allow for rock blasting as part of ongoing road works.

The section of the road between the 90 km and 106 km pegs is currently being widened and reconstructed by Bitumen World (Pvt) Ltd, contracted by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development.

In a public notice, the contractor explained that rock removal will take place near the Chivake River Bridge at km 101,2 and approximately 6 km south of Ngundu Village at km 103,8.

"For the safety of the motoring public, it will be necessary to close the road to all traffic during the blasting period, which is expected to take up to one hour between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm," the notice said, adding that this allows time for debris clearance after blasting.

Motorists are urged to plan alternative routes and exercise caution during this period.
