Naked granny 'crash-lands' in Nkulumane yard

Residents of Nkulumane 12 were left stunned after a naked elderly woman was discovered in a yard in the early hours of Saturday morning, sparking speculation of witchcraft.

The incident occurred around 4am near the Nkulumane housing office. Precious Ndlovu, the homeowner, said she was awakened by a rattling sound outside her bedroom window.

"At first, I thought it was my dog knocking something over," Ndlovu said. "But when I looked out, I nearly fainted. There she was - an old woman, completely naked, lying in my yard as if she had fallen from the sky."

Ndlovu's screams alerted neighbours, who rushed to the scene and confirmed the bizarre sight. Many in the community believed the woman had "crash-landed" during a failed witchcraft mission.

The woman, later identified as Lucy Ngwenya from Madlelanyoni in Ntabazinduna, struggled to speak and reportedly wrote her name and address on a piece of paper. She allegedly mumbled that she had fallen from a flying vessel and had been abandoned by her coven.

Residents also noticed damage to Ndlovu's perimeter wall, which they claimed was evidence of a hard landing. "It is the only explanation. She must have been flying and lost control," one resident whispered.

Police eventually escorted Ngwenya away from the scene, but the strange incident left many shaken.

However, another account later emerged, challenging the witchcraft theory. A resident claimed Ngwenya was suffering from dementia and had previously been seen wandering near traffic lights in Tshabalala.

"She looked suicidal, and my mother once took her to Tshabalala Police Station. She must have left the station somehow and stripped naked," the resident said.

While the community remains divided over whether the incident was a case of witchcraft or illness, the strange events of that night continue to dominate conversations in Nkulumane.
