The Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) has dismissed allegations circulating on social media accusing it of engaging in illegal activities at Mukaradzi Mine in Mt Darwin, insisting that all its operations are lawful and above board.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the AFZ described the claims as false and baseless, saying they were part of a smear campaign aimed at damaging the military's reputation.

"It has come to our attention that a video has been disseminated, falsely accusing the Air Force of Zimbabwe of illegal activities," read the statement.

The AFZ clarified that it holds a commercial stake in the mine through a registered partnership with Wise Tina International Company. "We are jointly the lawful owners of the mine in question. The Joint Venture is fully compliant with all legal requirements regarding the establishment of boundary markers," it said.

According to the statement, the contested perimeter fence was erected in line with coordinates provided by the Ministry of Mines. The AFZ alleged that illegal miners trespassed onto the property, later circulating the video while posing as victims.

"The claims made in the video are not only inaccurate but also misleading," the statement added.

The AFZ vowed to pursue legal action against those responsible for spreading the allegations and reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and integrity.

"The AFZ strongly condemns the dissemination of such false information and urges the public to refrain from spreading unverified claims. We are committed to protecting our assets and maintaining the integrity of our operations," it said.

The military also thanked stakeholders and the community for their continued support as it works toward resolving the matter.
