Police have confirmed the arrest of a key suspect in connection with the brutal murder of prominent businessman Joseph Mutangadura, who was killed at his Ruwa farm in August.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, announced the development, identifying the suspect as 38-year-old Phillip Mutasa.
"ZRP has confirmed the arrest of Phillip Mutasa in connection with the murder and robbery of prominent businessman Joseph Mutangadura (67), which occurred on 17 August 2025 at the Mutangadura Hideout property along Dunstan Road in Ruwa, Harare," Nyathi said in a statement.
Police revealed that detectives from CID Homicide Harare, acting on a tip-off, tracked the suspect to Mkoba Six in Gweru, where he was apprehended on October 3.
Following his arrest, Mutasa allegedly implicated seven accomplices who remain at large. Authorities have since launched a nationwide manhunt to bring the fugitives to justice.
Mutangadura's killing shocked the business community, and police say investigations into the case are still ongoing.
