Political and social commentator Tafadzwa Bambaninga has accused President Emmerson Mnangagwa of resorting to desperate measures to "coup-proof" his presidency amid rising tensions within ZANU-PF over succession.
In a lengthy post on X (formerly Twitter), Bambaninga alleged that Mnangagwa recently dispatched a group of soldiers and a traditional healer (n'anga) to the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) studios to perform rituals aimed at neutralising spiritual threats linked to the 2017 military coup.
"Last week on Thursday, he sent a n'anga and group of soldiers to the same studio where the late Sibusiso Moyo announced the coup. Their real purpose was to calm the spirits of departed army generals who helped ED ascend to power," Bambaninga claimed.
He further alleged that the group, led by Mnangagwa's nephew Valdano Brown, falsely claimed to be an advance team for Seychelles Prime Minister Wavel Ramkalawan.
"This was not about diplomacy - it was voodoo politics," Bambaninga wrote.
The commentator accused Mnangagwa of abandoning rational governance in favour of occult practices, claiming his presidency has been marked by looting, debauchery, and reliance on spiritual advisors.
"If it's not white garment churches, it's n'angas or criminal prophets like Uebert Angel and Ed Branson telling him what to do," he posted.
Bambaninga also made explosive claims about Mnangagwa's son, Emmerson Jr., alleging he had checked into rehab due to drug abuse and was being manipulated by socialite Pokello Nare.
The post went further, alleging that Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and Air Marshal Elson Moyo confronted Mnangagwa at Robert Mugabe International Airport over his continued association with businessman Wicknell Chivhayo.
"The military guys were annoyed ED is putting the presidency into disrepute by hobnobbing with criminal elements like Chivhayo," Bambaninga said.
The allegations have not been independently verified, and no official response has been issued by the Office of the President.
