Mnangagwa condemns ritual murders and sexual violence

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has issued a stern warning to perpetrators of ritual murders, sexual violence, and other forms of abuse, saying such crimes have no place in Zimbabwe and offenders will face the full force of the law.

Speaking at the Zanu-PF Politburo meeting in Harare yesterday, President Mnangagwa expressed deep concern over the rise in heinous crimes, particularly those targeting young people and children.

"I am disheartened with the sad and unfortunate cases of criminality often claiming the lives of young people and children, including alleged ritual murders, sexual violence and abuse among others. We are a nation where the sanctity of life is honoured, celebrated and preciously safeguarded," he said.

The President stressed that those who exploit the country's peaceful national character have no place in Zimbabwe.

"Tiri nyika ine rugare nerunyararo," he added.

The remarks come amid a series of shocking incidents. In Harare's Kuwadzana suburb, three children were recently found dead in the boot of an abandoned vehicle, sparking nationwide outrage.

In Masvingo, police are pursuing Morgen Gwazira (33) from Machingambi Village, alleged to have murdered his wife, Liliosa Gwenhamo (34), by striking her with an axe and disposing of her body in a bonfire at their home.

Meanwhile, Bindura police are investigating the death of Garikayi Junior Kamwendo (27), whose body was discovered in a bushy area in an advanced state of decomposition. Reports indicate the remains were mutilated, with the head and private organs missing.

Authorities continue to investigate these cases, working to apprehend suspects and determine the motives behind these brutal crimes.

President Mnangagwa's warning underscores the government's commitment to protecting citizens and upholding the rule of law in the face of rising violent crime.
