The National Chairman of Varakashi4ED, Godwin Nkatha, has issued a strongly worded statement condemning what the group describes as a "calculated act of arson" allegedly orchestrated by opposition elements to gain donor sympathy and discredit the Government.
In the press release, Nkatha said the destruction of the Sapes Trust seminar room in Belgravia - which was set to host a press conference by opposition figures Job Sikhala and Tendai Biti - appeared to be part of a coordinated ploy to "malign the State and its security institutions."
"This shameful ploy - burning down their own venue to manufacture public outrage and attract foreign donor sympathy - is not only deceitful but a direct affront to national peace and progress," Nkatha said.
He accused "regime change agents" of resorting to "theatrical sabotage" and "weaponizing false victimhood" after failing to generate political momentum.
Varakashi4ED, a social media movement aligned with the ruling Zanu PF party, called on the Zimbabwe Republic Police and other security agencies to act "swiftly and decisively" to identify and prosecute those behind the alleged plot.
"Every individual involved - planners and perpetrators alike - must be identified, arrested, and prosecuted without delay," the statement read.
Nkatha added that Varakashi4ED remained committed to defending the truth, promoting discipline, and safeguarding Zimbabwe's image from what he described as "cheap political tactics."
"We will not allow political opportunists to destabilize Zimbabwe through staged drama and misinformation. The people of Zimbabwe deserve better," he said.
The statement concluded by reaffirming the group's loyalty to President Emmerson Mnangagwa's vision of unity and national development.
"Unity, loyalty, and national development will always triumph over deception," Nkatha declared.
