Man steals woman's pant on washing wire

PLUMTREE - There was drama at the Plumtree Magistrates Court yesterday when Dupuo Moyo was convicted of assaulting her neighbour after accusing him of stealing her underwear from a washing line.
Magistrate Joshua Nembaware sentenced Moyo to six months in jail but conditionally suspended the sentence in favour of 105 hours of community service.
In mitigation, Moyo pleaded for leniency, saying she acted out of anger.
"Your worship, spare me a jail term. I assaulted this man out of anger because he stole my pant. I did not know his intentions, so I bashed him," she lamented.
Prosecutor Sheila Nyathi told the court that the incident occurred in September when Moyo returned home around 9pm and had a misunderstanding with Wellington Kangorongondo (31). Moyo then assaulted him with open hands, leaving him with a swollen face.
