Fatal bus crash along Masvingo-Beitbridge highway

Police have confirmed a fatal road accident involving a Munenzva Bus Company coach along the Masvingo–Beitbridge highway, but the exact number of deaths and injuries is still being assessed.

The bus, which was travelling from Harare to Cape Town, reportedly overturned along the Rutenga–Mwenezi stretch before colliding with a tree, scattering debris across the crash site. Some passengers are reported to have died at the scene, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the incident, stating that the crash occurred at the 155 km peg along the highway around 5:20 pm on Sunday, November 16, 2025.

“The ZRP reports a fatal road traffic accident involving a Munenzva bus travelling from Harare to Cape Town, which occurred at the 155 km peg along the Masvingo–Beitbridge road today at around 1720 hours. More details will be released in due course,” Commissioner Nyathi said.

Rescue operations were reported to have been challenging due to the scattered debris, and authorities are continuing to assess the full scale of the casualties.
