SILOBELA - A 40‑year‑old man from Silobela was fatally stabbed after he reportedly refused to share his beer with fellow patrons at a local bar.

The deceased, Josphat Ncube of Chief Malisa's area, was attacked outside Ndebele Bar at Silobela Business Centre, police confirmed.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said Ncube had declined to share his beer with four men who were also drinking at the bar.

"The four suspects - Adonis Bvenura (20) of Dhlamini Village, Lyton Mpofu, Donald Ndlovu (20) of Marambeni Village and Bornwell Matonhodze (20) of Rungu Village - confronted Ncube, questioning why he was drinking alone," Mahoko said.

"They dragged him and assaulted him. In the process, they stabbed him with a knife."

Ncube sustained deep cuts to the shoulder and both sides of the neck. He was rushed to Silobela District Hospital, where he later died.

Inspector Mahoko confirmed that one suspect, Adonis Bvenura, has been arrested, while police are pursuing the remaining suspects.
