A woman from Chinhoyi was killed on Tuesday in a tragic accident after being crushed by a pillar that was accidentally knocked down by her husband while he was reversing his vehicle at their home.
The incident occurred at the couple's house in Riverside suburb, where the victim, identified as Mrs Mazvazva, was struck by a collapsing pillar after it was hit by the reversing car. She reportedly died on the spot.
Mrs Mazvazva was a teacher at Chaedza Primary School, and news of her sudden death has sent shockwaves through the local community and the education fraternity.
Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson Inspector Ian Kohwera confirmed the incident, saying investigations were currently underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
"The matter is under investigation," Inspector Kohwera said, adding that police were treating the case as a tragic accident.
