The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) has advised customers and the general public that the railway line between Chicualacuala and Maputo has been temporarily closed following multiple wash-aways caused by heavy rains in Mozambique.
In a statement posted on its social media platforms, NRZ said the disruption has affected the movement of rail traffic to and from Zimbabwe via that corridor.
The railway operator added that Mozambique's rail company, Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM), plans to commence repair works once water levels have subsided.
"NRZ apologises to its valued customers for the inconvenience caused by this disruption of service," the statement read.
Passengers and freight operators are advised to monitor NRZ communications for updates on the resumption of services.
