ZRP acquires boats, motorcycles, and vehicles to boost operations

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has acquired several high-powered boats to enhance police operations, including rescue missions, water escorts and patrols along the country's major waterways.

In a statement released on Monday, 19 January 2026, the ZRP said the boats will be strategically deployed to police provinces and stations to strengthen law enforcement and emergency response capabilities.

"The Commissioner-General of Police, Stephen Mutamba, has released several boats for police operations, which include rescue activities, water escorts and patrols along the country's major waterways," the statement said.

"The high-powered boats will be strategically deployed in police provinces and stations to strengthen law enforcement and emergency response capabilities."

Commissioner-General Mutamba also commissioned police motorcycles and new vehicles as part of broader efforts to improve policing services nationwide.

According to the ZRP, the motorcycles will be used for scene attendance and patrols in areas with rugged terrain, including farming communities, rural areas and central business districts across all provinces.

"In the same vein, the Commissioner-General of Police commissioned Police Bikes for scene attendance and patrols in areas with rugged terrain," the statement added.

The ZRP also commissioned new vehicles for the Police Canine (Dog Section) unit to enhance its operational effectiveness.

"As part of efforts to provide improved and quality service to Zimbabweans, the ZRP also commissioned new vehicles for use by the Police Canine (Dog Section) team to attend to reports of crime, track suspects, manage public order situations, sniff for drugs and conduct general searches during crowd control activities," the statement said.

The latest acquisitions are part of ongoing efforts by the police force to modernise its equipment and improve service delivery across the country.
