ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries has entered a new chapter following the consecration of Dr Joseph Joe Guti as the Archbishop of the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA), succeeding the church's founder, Dr Ezekiel Guti, who died in 2023.

Dr Guti, who previously served as Presiding Bishop, was formally appointed to the highest office of the church during a colourful ceremony held on Sunday at the Africa Multination for Christ College (AMFIC) in Harare. The service was officiated by senior Archbishop Professor Eunor Guti, assisted by two Archbishops from South Africa and Mozambique.

The ceremony also saw the elevation of ZAOGA Secretary General, Apostle Mishael Nyambo, to the rank of Bishop. His deputy, Apostle Dr Stephen Simukai, was likewise elevated to the episcopacy.

Speaking in an interview, Bishop Nyambo reaffirmed the church's commitment to national development and continued cooperation with government, saying the vision laid by the late Archbishop Guti would be sustained.

"We are continuing with the work, and nothing has stopped. Dr Guti did not work alone; he trained us and showed us the way. As we speak, we have just completed another university as a satellite campus to the one in Bindura. Schools are still being built, and Mbuya Dorcas Hospital has been upgraded, including the establishment of a diabetic pharmacy. We have also introduced four additional schools. With our new leader, who worked closely with Dr Guti in developing schools, the sky is the limit," said Bishop Nyambo.

The ceremony was attended by the Secretary for Presidential Affairs and Devolution in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti, who commended ZAOGA for its contribution to national development.

"As the Government of Zimbabwe, we are grateful to ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries. Our late Archbishop Baba Guti had a clear vision for national development, and we appreciate the church's continued commitment. We are encouraged by the assurance that nothing will change. As we rebuild our nation, the church remains a key partner in fulfilling the vision of President Emmerson Mnangagwa," said Engineer Muguti.

The consecration took place on the sidelines of the ongoing Deeper Life Conference, which has drawn pastors from all 177 countries where ZAOGA has an established presence.
