A 28-year-old Zimbabwean man, Tanaka Makwindi, is reportedly homeless and stranded in Poland after falling out with his parents over religious and family disagreements.

Tanaka, who completed his university degree in Poland, is said to have been disowned by his parents, Lucia and David Makwindi of Marondera. David Makwindi is a pastor, while Lucia teaches at Peterhouse Boys College. The couple has two children, Tanaka and his sister.

Sources say the feud began when Tanaka refused to work for free at a bakery operated by his parents' church, sparking a rift that eventually led him to leave Zimbabwe for Poland. After returning to Poland, he reportedly told his parents he would not come back home, effectively severing ties.

A family member told H-Metro that Tanaka's disownment has plunged him into depression and left him homeless. "He was disowned because he refused to work at the church's bakery. This plunged him into a depression and now he is homeless in Poland, cut off from his family and support network," the source said.

The family also expressed concern about Tanaka's mental health, saying he needs specialist care. Efforts are underway to admit him to a psychiatric facility in Poland, while they work on obtaining essential documents, including a copy of his birth certificate, to facilitate his return home.

"The priority is to stabilise him and ensure he receives the care he needs," the family member added.

Family members also revealed that Tanaka's parents have left the family WhatsApp group and blocked anyone attempting to contact them.

Repeated attempts by H-Metro to get a comment from the Makwindi couple were unsuccessful.
