Zanu-PF's provincial executive committee meeting in Mutare ended prematurely amid chaotic scenes, with no resolutions reached, party officials confirmed.
In an interview, Manicaland spokesperson and Buhera North MP Phillip Guyo said he could not comment on the disorder but confirmed that the meeting produced no official outcomes.
"What I can say is that no resolution was made after the meeting," Guyo said. "There was no other meeting that was held after that, but the chairman will definitely give his report to the national leadership and some people who attended the meeting."
The closed-door gathering reportedly descended into chaos after rival factions clashed over a state of the party report presented by provincial political commissar Albert Nyakuedzwa.
Buhera West legislator Tafadzwa Mugwadi was interrupted by meeting chair Mukodza when attempting to contribute, prompting supporters to challenge the chair's authority. Tensions escalated into shouting and commotion, forcing Mukodza to call off the meeting.
Sources say Mukodza and provincial secretary for administration Sam Matema have since sent separate reports on the incident to the party's national leadership, highlighting the internal divisions within the Manicaland provincial structures.
The premature ending of the meeting underscores ongoing factional tensions in the ruling party, with observers noting that unresolved disputes could affect cohesion ahead of upcoming party activities.
