Police arrest 1 suspect over viral naked woman assault video

Police have arrested one suspect in connection with a viral video showing the assault of a woman over allegations of infidelity in Uzumba-Maramba-Pfungwe, Mashonaland East province.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident, which occurred on 20 February 2026.
"Reference is made to the video circulating on social media platforms in which two women are seen brutally assaulting a naked woman over infidelity allegations," Nyathi said in a statement.
"The ZRP confirms that the incident occurred in Uzumba-Maramba-Pfungwe on 20 February 2026 and Tambudzai Manjera (24) has since been arrested in connection with this case. Her accomplice, Tanaka Manjera (22), is still at large. More information will follow in due course."
Police have not yet disclosed the charges the suspect is likely to face, but investigations are ongoing. Authorities have urged members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to report disputes to the police.
The circulation of the video has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with calls for justice and condemnation of gender-based violence.
Police said efforts are underway to locate the second suspect.
