Zimbabwe's second-largest mobile operator, NetOne, has extended its off-peak data hours and introduced a specialised Tourist SIM card aimed at improving connectivity for visitors entering the country.

The company has adjusted its off-peak data window to run from 10PM to 5AM, replacing the previous 1AM to 7AM schedule. NetOne said the move reflects evolving customer usage patterns and is designed to give subscribers more flexibility.

"This customer-first adjustment allows more Zimbabweans to take advantage of affordable internet for overnight downloads, updates and entertainment," the company said, noting that the change aligns with the country's growing data consumption trends.

The revised off-peak period is expected to benefit students, content creators and households that typically schedule heavy internet usage during the night, particularly as demand for data-intensive services such as streaming and large file downloads continues to rise.

NetOne said the adjustment forms part of ongoing refinements to its data products as it seeks to enhance service delivery through customer feedback.

In a separate development, the operator has launched a Tourist SIM card targeting short-term visitors. The SIM cards are being distributed free of charge at major ports of entry, including airports, and come with flexible bundles tailored for tourists.

According to the company, the Tourist SIM remains active for up to 90 days, allowing travellers to maintain affordable connectivity throughout their stay.

"This initiative ensures that visitors to Zimbabwe can access affordable, high-quality connectivity from the moment they arrive," NetOne said, describing the product as support for the government's "Zimbabwe is Open for Business" drive.

The latest initiatives come as the operator says it continues to align its products with national priorities around digital inclusion, tourism growth and broader economic development.

"By listening to customers and refining our offerings, we are strengthening our role in Zimbabwe's journey towards a tech-driven future," the company added.
