An Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) pastor based in Mucheke, Masvingo, was arrested last week after a 13-year-old girl he lived with reported him to police for multiple counts of rape.

Pastor Chirashanye Magora (53) was taken into custody on February 16, 2026, at around 9:30pm by officers from Chikato Police Station after the juvenile escaped and made a report. According to court documents, the complainant fled to Chikato Primary School, where she narrated her ordeal to the school head, Stanley Zhonje, who then escorted her to the police station.

The State alleges that Magora raped the girl on several occasions between December 2025 and February 2026. In one incident, he allegedly locked her inside his room, stripped her, and raped her, threatening to kill her if she disclosed the matter. On another occasion, the girl reportedly woke up to find him on top of her. She screamed for help, but he silenced her by covering her mouth and issued further threats.

On the day of his arrest, Magora allegedly summoned the girl to his room again, but she managed to escape and seek help.

Magora appeared in court and was granted bail by Justice Zisengwe of the High Court on Friday, February 20, 2026, after paying US$50. As part of his bail conditions, he is required to report to Chikato Police Station every Monday and Thursday.

The matter has been remanded to March 4, 2026. Batanai Emmanuel Mathose appeared for the State.
