Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA), through the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), has announced the restoration of prepaid electricity vending services following a three-day system interruption that disrupted multiple platforms.

Customers are now able to purchase electricity tokens again using mobile money platforms, banking applications, and retail point-of-sale systems after the outage, which began on Sunday, 22 March 2026, and affected all third-party vending channels outside ZETDC banking halls.

In a statement, ZETDC confirmed that most third-party vending platforms, including those operated by banks and retail outlets, have been successfully restored. Technical teams are reportedly in the final stages of bringing the remaining systems back online.

The disruption caused inconvenience to many customers who rely on digital and retail platforms to access prepaid electricity, particularly during a period of high demand. The utility acknowledged the impact of the outage and issued an apology, thanking customers for their patience as efforts to fully stabilise the system continue.

ZESA has assured the public that it is working to ensure full restoration across all platforms and to prevent similar interruptions in future.
