Sengezo Tshabangu has defended the recent recall of councillors in Victoria Falls, saying the action was taken because the affected officials failed to follow party principles and guidelines.

In a statement issued on Saturday morning on X, Tshabangu said he had received numerous inquiries from party supporters and members of the public regarding the recalls.

"I wish to respond to many people who have been messaging my inbox asking about the recent recalls we effected in Victoria Falls," he said.

He said the recalled councillors had acted contrary to the expectations of the party leadership and its disciplinary framework.

"We made the decision to recall the councillors mentioned below as a result of their failure to adhere to the party's guidelines and principles," Tshabangu said.

The outspoken politician also issued a warning to other legislators and councillors within the Citizens Coalition for Change, particularly during the ongoing parliamentary discussions around constitutional amendments.

"I also take this opportunity to warn anyone who may do the same in future, especially during this period of the ongoing parliamentary process of constitutional amendments," he said.

Tshabangu added that all Members of Parliament representing the CCC must align themselves with party leadership and directives from the Chief Whip in the National Assembly.

"Any Member of Parliament under the Citizens Coalition for Change should act in accordance with the party's principles and guidelines and remain in line with the leadership of our Chief Whip in the House of Assembly," he said.

The recalls are expected to further deepen tensions within the opposition party, which has in recent months faced internal disputes over leadership, strategy and parliamentary representation.
