No sex since 2022 led to axe Muduva's death

THE late Lyliosa Chirara allegedly left behind a suicide note in which she described years of emotional distress and unhappiness in her marriage to Martin Muduva before her death last week.

H-Metro reported that it had obtained the handwritten suicide note and translated the majority of its contents. The note has not been independently authenticated.

In the letter, Chirara began by apologising to her relatives for what she had done, saying she had reached a point where she could no longer cope with the suffering she had endured.

"I have done this because of being tormented and the suffering I have endured for a long time and the distress I have suffered," she wrote.

She alleged that although people believed she was happy, she had been suffering throughout the marriage and accused Muduva of portraying their relationship differently to outsiders.

"All he was doing was making me suffer and achindishainira all this time," she wrote.

Chirara also made allegations about the couple's intimate relationship, claiming that Muduva had not entered their bedroom or had sex with her between 2022 and 2025.

She alleged that his academic achievements had changed his attitude towards her, claiming that he no longer considered her suitable because she was not educated.

She further complained about finances, alleging that Muduva considered his earnings to be his personal money and did not believe she was entitled to know how much he earned.

Chirara said she had attempted to establish a chicken business, buying 500 chickens for egg production, but alleged that Muduva did not want the chickens at their home and she was eventually forced to sell them.

She also alleged that Muduva had spent a year living with another woman before returning and telling her that he had found a "proper wife" who suited his status, understood information technology and could accompany him to public functions.

According to the note, Chirara claimed that Muduva subsequently secretly married Patience Mangwiro and that she only learnt about the marriage after seeing a status posted about the roora ceremony.

"Understandably, you can say that I got it wrong in terms of my thinking but forgive me I have been made to suffer for a very long time, let me rest now," she wrote.

Chirara also addressed Mangwiro directly, alleging that she had wanted to destroy her marriage to Muduva.

"Now, let Patience Mangwiro be happy because all she wanted was to destroy my marriage with Martin," she wrote.

She referred to a vow she had made to Muduva that their marriage would only end in death, adding: "As I had vowed to Martin that our union would only be ended by death, this is the death that I meant."

The note also contained an apology to her children, with Chirara saying she had wanted to see them grow up but believed her continued suffering would eventually have led to her death.

"My kids, they don't know anything, yes, I wanted to see them grow but I would still have died because of stress, sorry, I have failed," she wrote.

Addressing Muduva's family, Chirara apologised for the pain she believed she had caused them and sarcastically referred to Mangwiro as the educated daughter-in-law who could now take her place.

She also addressed her brother-in-law, whom she accused of encouraging Muduva to find a more educated wife.

Chirara alleged that she had previously told him about the difficulties she was experiencing but that he had declined to intervene in the couple's problems.

She questioned why he had become involved when Mangwiro was being married.

The note ended with an appeal for her children to be cared for.

"Chisarai mugarike, please take care of my children," she wrote.
