A Masvingo businessman has been caught with his young lover having sex in a chapel last week at at Buka Business Centre.

They were allegedly caught having a good time in a Roman Catholic church by security guards at around 9pm on Wednesday. Police said they received the report but their investigations had not yielded anything yet.

"We received a report to the effect that two people were caught making love in a church. We however, carried our own investigations but we could not get what exactly transpired," said Masvingo provincial spokesperson Inspector Zhanero.

However, according to sources, the businessman, who is about 50 years old, and his employee said to be in her early 20s, had been seeing each other for some time and on the night in question the two lovebirds thought of turning the church into their love nest.

"He was found with his trousers and underwear lying on the floor while the girl had pulled her dress up to above her breasts. The worst thing is that they were doing it right by the pulpit and a number of people witnessed it as the incident attracted a bumper crowd," said the source.

He said the guards had seen the lights in the church on and became suspicious since there was no church meeting that night.

"The guards saw a light inside the church and became suspicious. They decided to move closer to investigate what was happening. One of them checked inside through the window and was taken aback by the sight of the couple that was in the middle of a steamy sex session. Before the two guards could hatch a plan on how they could apprehend the two, the man quickly dressed up and lifted the woman out through the window before he also sneaked out and made easy their escape," narrated the source.

The businessman is reportedly 'still on the run' as he has not been seen in the area since the fateful day.

A senior member of the church, Brighton Chafuka, said people were breaking into the chapel to do unholy activities.

"People break into the house of God to tarnish the image of our church. We have changed locks every time and repaired broken windows but it is not helping," he said.

Efforts to locate the controversial couple proved futile
