The driver of the lorry which struck and killed a policewoman last Thursday has surrendered himself to the police in Marondera.
Constable Betserai Ndlovu died on the spot after she was hit by a lorry that failed to stop at a roadblock near the 56km peg along the Harare-Mutare Road in Marondera.
Acting National Traffic spokesperson Assistant Inspector Luckmore Chakanza yesterday confirmed the incident.
He said Shingirai Motsi was out of custody and would appear in court today facing culpable homicide charges.
Asst Insp Chakanza said when the incident occurred, Motsi stopped the lorry and fled from the scene.
Police had since launched a manhunt for him until he surrendered himself on Monday.
Cst Ndlovu was one of the officers who were manning the roadblock in the Marondera area and the incident occurred at around 2pm.
It is alleged that Motsi, who was driving a UD lorry, was waved to reduce his speed and stop but failed.
He then hit Cst Ndlovu who was out of the road as she ran out of his way as other officers were also scampering for cover.
