THE Biblical advice to love your neighbour as you love yourself worked against a man from Mbethe Village in Mbembesi, Matabeleland North who appeared in court facing charges of allegedly assaulting his neighbour's wife.
This was after she had allegedly turned down his request to quench his sexual appetite.
Sithembiso Dlangamandla (33) was reportedly caught behind enemy lines after he assaulted Miriam Mabhula (22) with a knobkerrie as punishment for spurning his love request.
For the offence he was hauled before Bulawayo magistrate Witness Mtetwa who was sitting at Mbembesi Circuit Court.
Allegations against Dlangamandla are that on 13 August he met Mabhula who asked him to stop proposing love to her saying he was putting her marriage in danger.
It is reported that the seemingly humiliated Dlangamadla did not respond to Mabhula's warning.
Meanwhile, the State is yet to prove that on 16 August at around 10am, the complainant, who was coming from a community borehole, met the accused and stopped her and she complied.
Dlangamandla is alleged to have accused the complainant of having disgraced him when she reprimanded him in the presence of other villagers that he should stop asking for sex from her since she was married.
The complainant reportedly told the accused to stop bothering her.
This, however, did not go down well with Dlangamandla who struck the complainant who was carrying a bucket of water with a knobkerrie.
After the assault, the complainant, who sustained injuries on her right ear. She went and reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the accused.
For the offence Dlangamadla, who appeared in court last Friday, was not asked to plead after the matter was postponed to a later date.
