HARARE - A South Africa based Zimbabwean man attempted to shoot his wife with a pellet gun after suspecting that she was having an affair, the Civil Court heard last week.
Felicity Husaiwevhu claimed Ralph was very violent towards her at all times.
Husaiwevhu was seeking a protection order against Ralph who she said was breaching her peace and making her life unbearable.
"He attempted to shoot me with a pellet gun on my birthday after I was accompanied home by a male friend since I had spent the whole day drinking alcohol with my friends at Mereki," she said.
Husaiwevhu told Harare Civil Court magistrate Babra Masinire that she was being physically abused by Ralph over petty issues.
"I do not have peace with this man at all, he threatened me that if I divorce him he will not give my share of our company in which I have 50 percent shares," Husaiwevhu said.
She said the pellet gun was confiscated by police after she reported the matter.
Ralph refuted the allegations and accused Husaiwevhu of cheating on him.
"I am based In South Africa but on the day in question I had came home because it was my wife's birthday," he said.
Ralph said he got angry when Husaiwevhu came home with her boyfriend at around 11pm.
"She is having an extra- marital affair and I have recordings to prove that," said Ralph.
He also told the court that the gun in question was just a toy.
Masinire granted the order in Husaiwevhu's favour which barred Ralph from physically or verbally abusing her.
