Mugabe pardons Sekeramayi, elevates him to politburo

Zanu-PF Mashonaland East heavyweight Sydney Sekeramayi has dramatically landed a politburo post after he almost lost the central committee nomination after his name was among those rejected by President Mugabe at the party's Congress.
Zanu-PF ordered fresh elections in the province following concerns that the list submitted to the 6th National People's Congress last week did not reflect the wishes of the people.
But Sekeramayi was luck to survive the chop after he was re-elected and seconded to the Central Committee yesterday.
Sekeramayi almost failed to get into the Central Committee for allegedly supporting ousted provincial chairman Ray Kaukonde, who was said to have skipped the border into South Africa in the wake of reports of his involvement in the plot to oust President Mugabe.
He was accused of failing to rein in Kaukonde when he went about sponsoring factional activities and sexually abusing female party members in the province, despite being secretary for security in the Politburo.
He allegedly did nothing, let alone alerting the Politburo about the sinister plots, yet all the machinations were happening right under his nose, leading many to conclude he was party to the Mujuru cabal.
Today, Mugabe appointed to represent War Veteran's in a development which was less anticipated by many as they perceive him as one of the bad apples facing Mugabe's wrath.
