A 22-YEAR-OLD injiva was on Sunday robbed of R4, 000, $150 and a Nokia Asha cellphone at gun point before three female members of the gang allegedly took turns to have sex with him after injecting him with an unknown substance.

The three females were part of a five-member gang that has for the second time in two weeks robbed and forced complainants into having sex along the Beitbridge-Harare highway, police said.

Police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba confirmed the armed robbery and aggravated indecent assault which she said occurred in Mandamabwe area in Chivi.

She said the complainant, who is employed in South Africa, boarded an unregistered Nissan X-Trail vehicle from Beitbridge to Harare at 7PM.

Snr Asst Comm Charamba said the vehicle had three occupants, one male and two females who pretended to be strangers.

"When they reached Chivi Turn Off, the male driver drove along the Tokwe-Mhandamabwe Road for about four kilometres before robbing the complainant of his valuables including R4, 000, $150, a Nokia Asha 302 cellphone and national identity card at gun point", she said.

Snr Asst Comm Charamba said the robbers tied the complainant's hands with a rope and drove along the same road for a further three kilometres.

She said a Toyota Gaia which was following the Nissan X-Trail emerged from behind and signalled the first vehicle to drive into a narrow dust road before two women disembarked from the Toyota Gaia holding two pistols.

"A male suspect from the X-Trail vehicle then injected the complainant with an unknown substance and ordered him to have sex with the three female unknown suspects," said the police spokesperson.

She said the incident was the third one to be recorded along the Masvingo-Beitbridge highway inside two weeks.

"Members of the public are discouraged from boarding private vehicles when travelling. They should particularly avoid the following vehicle makes, unregistered Toyota Gaia, Toyota Ipsum, Toyota Noah, Toyota Duet and Toyota Vitz which are being used as public transport by unscrupulous people," said Snr Asst Comm Charamba.

She warned the gang that their days are numbered as the police have all their intelligence teams at their disposal to hunt for them.

Meanwhile, Snr Asst Comm Charamba has said it has come to their attention that robbers were now targeting churches particularly on Sundays and robbing them of church collections.

She said the most affected church was ZAOGA.

"While the police are doing everything in their power to ensure that such cases do not occur, members of the public are urged to be vigilant and report suspicious persons to the police", Snr Asst Comm Charamba said.

She implored church authorities to regularly deposit their money with financial institutions to curtail robbery cases.
