Redan to source gas outside SA

Redan Gas (Pvt) Ltd is looking at procuring liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from outside South Africa after the shutdown of refineries affected local supplies.

Redan Gas director Paul Bowen said the gas would be an imported product which is shipped into Mozambique and then transported by road to Harare.

For the past two weeks, there have been pockets of gas shortages in the country with the few areas available charging more than the usual retail price average of $1,80 to as high as $5 per kilogramme.

Bowen said the current prices were a result of demand outstripping supply.
