A SELOUS man is on the run after allegedly killing his cousin and stashing the corpse under a bed in a bid to conceal the crime.

Farai Chitsinde allegedly committed the murder after his cousin, Edward Zvoma, accused him of stealing $46.

Mashonaland West police spokesman Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara said Zvoma's body (age not given) was bruised.

It is understood Zvoma had US$46 when he travelled from Harare to his home in Selous on Tuesday last week.

Chitsinde allegedly stole the money the following day.

Zvoma confronted him after making the discovery, resulting in an altercation and the alleged murder. "One John Chibondo, from the same area, passed through Edward's house on the same day to inquire about his shoes that Farai had taken," said Insp Mabgweazara.

"He, however, noticed that no one was home. He immediately called Edward's younger brother, Edwin, who, in turn, called their sister, Sarah.

"Sarah became suspicious after Farai answered Edward's mobile phone and failed to give satisfactory information about his cousin's whereabouts."

Insp Mabgweazara said a police officer later accompanied Zvoma's sister to the house where they found the corpse under a bed. Efforts to arrest Chitsinde are underway.
