Lucky shopper wins big in the BuyZimbabwe week promotion

The 1st annual Buy Zimbabwe Week held from November 28, 2011 to December 2, 2011 was certainly a week to be remembered for Buy Zimbabwe, it's partners, consumers and in particular the lucky shoppers who walked away with great prizes from the road shows and radio phone-in programmes during the Buy Zimbabwe week promotion whose main theme was "Buy Zimbabwe, save a job."  Beyond the myriad of activities celebrating the Buy Zimbabwe week, the 2011 event also marked an awareness campaign whose main theme was "Buy Zimbabwe, save a job."

The grand final of the Buy Zimbabwe week promotion saw Fortunate Chihwayi of house number 9116 Budiriro 5B walk away with the grand prize of a freezer proudly made in Zimbabwe by Buy Zimbabwe partner Capri. Fortunate walked away with the prize after having bought Lyons Cascade, Rabroy tomato sauce, Irvine's eggs and Tingamira worth a total value of US$7.56 which made her eligible for the grand draw.

Kumba ndinoziva kuti vachashamisika kundiona ndichisvika nefridge yeCapri (I did not expect to walk away with the grand prize but I am excited all the same by the outcome of the Buy Zimbabwe promotion)," said a visibly emotional Fortunate.

"Isu takakura tichitenga maproducts edu emuno muZimbabwe asi takanga tisisaziva kumaona muzvitoro. Ndinofara kwazvo kuona kuti mamwe acho avakuwanikwa kunyangwe zvazvo achirimashoma (I grew up in a family that bought a lot of local products but they had since vanished from the shop shelves. I am personally happy that some local products are now back although they are still very few)," she added while receiving her prize from Buy Zimbabwe General Manager Munyaradzi Hwengwere.

Other prize winners included Tendai Mantiziba who walked away with two hampers courtesy of Schweppes private limited and Obel petroleum, Togarasei Muchemwa who walked away with a hamper packed with goodies from Lyons and Mupunga Tozvipei who won a hamper from ZFC (Pvt) Ltd.

Winners in the radio phone-in programme also walked away with fantastic prizes that were sponsored by the Buy Zimbabwe partners.

The Buy Zimbabwe week promotion which is a sales driven initiative designed to increase purchases of local goods and services during the festive season. It was also designed to increase awareness of local brands through road shows, in-store demos and the media.

This year's event, which was the inaugural event, garnered tremendous support from Buy Zimbabwe partners who showed their commitment to delivering their quality products at an affordable rate.

All those who were involved in the 2011 edition of the Buy Zimbabwe Week look forward to another memorable year in 2012.
