Mpilo maternity fundraising gala in UK

Northampton is the place to be on the 29 July and all for a good cause. The event will all be in aid of the Mpilo Maternity Project.
The Life Project was started about six years ago on behalf of Mpilo Maternity by Samukeliso Tennyson who was later joined by Linda Thebe, Pastor Jide David Modede; it is also a project of choice for Majestic led by Charles Chavi.
The UK based team have now been joined by Mr and Mrs Dube who always make room for them in their home.
Samukeliso has led on the clinical side of the project which includes providing essential resources for Mpilo maternity hospital in Bulawayo Zimbabwe.
She works with some midwives from Northampton hospital and other hospitals on a voluntary mission on a yearly basis.
In 2014 they started some renovation works at Mpilo maternity, which are still continuing. In the last 2 years they have:
-curtained the Antenatal ward
-painted the postnatal wards (nearly complete)
-painted the neonatal ward and provided some cot covers.
The next phase will look at renovating the labour wards
In the course of the year the voluntary project runs some fundraising events including cake sales and they get support from church, family and friends.
The Life project has volunteers in the UK and Zimbabwe who are always willing to donate their time and expertise and they fund their own travels.
