Man bashes girlfriend over WhatsApp password

A Plumtree man was dragged before the courts after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend with a pot during a dispute over her WhatsApp password.
Promise Nyoni appeared yesterday at the Plumtree Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Joshua Nembaware, who granted him US$20 bail.
According to the state, the incident occurred on September 29 when Nyoni demanded that his girlfriend remove the password from her mobile phone. A heated argument ensued, during which Nyoni allegedly picked up a pot and struck the complainant.
After the assault, Nyoni reportedly took the unlocked phone from his girlfriend. She sustained a swollen cheek and injuries to her thighs.
The matter was prosecuted by Sheila Nyathi and is set to continue on October 6.
